Originally recorded in 1971 on the album Blue, “River” is a folk classic and one of Joni Mitchell’s most famous contributions to the Canadian songbook. Reportedly based on the singer-songwriter’s romantic breakup with fellow folk musician, Graham Nash, “River” is about love, loss, and the journeys our lives take us on.
