For unaccompanied mixed choir with soprano obbligato. Commissioned by Michael Zaugg for Pro Coro Canada. In manuscript from the composer.

Bookended with a dramatic hymn-like theme, the main body of the piece employs a sense of accelerating time that intensifies as it builds to a climax. This is set up compositionally by an organized metrical structure that moves from 2/4 to 3/4 to 4, 5, etc.

Encadré par un thème dramatique en forme d’hymne, le cœur de la pièce s’accélère et s’intensifie pour aboutir à son point culminant. Le compositeur y parvient grâce à une structure métrique organisée qui passe de deux temps, à trois, à quatre et à cinq temps, etc.
